What's different about 10x8 Photography Training?
Our photography training courses are designed to help you take better photographs, regardless of what camera equipment you have.
Our courses are short, rarely more than 3 to 4 hours, there’s no commitment to sign up to a series of courses and you could choose to attend just one or a number, over whatever time period suits you.
We aim to keep the technical jargon out of our courses and explain things in plain English with plenty of hints and tips, with time for questions too.
What sort of camera do I need?
We welcome delegates with all sorts of cameras (old and new) – Digital SLRs (DSLR), digital bridge cameras, digital compact cameras and digital compact system (CSC) cameras.
Whatever camera you have, if you want to learn how to take better photographs with it, we can help.
Whilst there’s no reason you couldn’t attend a course without a camera, we do highly recommend you bring one. We often have cameras that we can loan you on the day, but it’s much better you get to know your own camera.
How many attendees are there on your courses?
We want you to get the most from our courses, so we never have more than six attendees. This ensures that we can answer questions and if you need assistance with your camera, we can provide that.
Do you provide course materials that I can refer to after the course?
We use presentation materials throughout the course and will email a link for you to download a copy following the course. This will include additional notes about the topics being covered.
Please bring a notepad and pen to the course if you want to make your own notes throughout the session too.
Are refreshments available?
We’ll provide tea and coffee on arrival – and biscuits of course. We take a break around half-way through the session with more tea and coffee available – and more biscuits. Please feel free to bring along soft drinks if you want.
Do you provide customised courses for topics not covered in your courses?
Is there a minimum age to attend your courses?
Our courses are suitable for all ages, however, for those under 18, an adult must accompany them at all times.
What's the minimum skill level?
There’s no minimum skill level or prerequisites required for our courses. Our courses are suitable for novices and those with more experience. Many of our courses are designed to follow on, but you can join in at whatever level you feel suits you.
Do you offer One-to-One courses?
We offer One-to-One tuition on topics to suit your specific needs. We provide sessions from two hours upwards, but typically no longer than six hours.
Sessions can be held at your home or at a mutually agreed location (within 30 miles travelling distance from Kilkhampton in North Cornwall). For locations more than 30 miles from our base, get in touch and we can discuss costs.
Where are your courses held?
We hold our courses at our office at Penshell Bakery (opposite The New Inn public house) in Kilkhampton in North Cornwall. The village of Kilkhampton is on the main A39 Atlantic Highway, about 5 miles north of Bude and 20 miles south west of Bideford. There is plenty of free parking in the village, either on the road or in one of its two squares. The village is well served with local shops, cafes and pubs, which offer both food and accomodation.
